It's Green on the Ground Week, and we're featuring green bike lanes and infrastructure across L.A. County. Today our volunteer and electric bike rider David writes about the green bike lanes on Strathmore covering the heart of UCLA's campus.

The green bike lane on Strathmore Drive is one of the many improvements UCLA has made that has helped earn the campus a Silver Level Bicycle Friendly University Award.

Strathmore is an important link that connects many of the students that live in apartments and fraternities on the west side of campus to UCLA's core.

This street gives cyclists close access to Ackerman Student Union, Pauley Pavilion, and the new Luskin Conference Center.

The lane also features a bike box as it reaches Westwood Blvd, helping cyclists make a left turn where they can access the many buses that serve campus.

With over 40,000 students, the campus is always full of foot traffic, so using the roads to efficiently serve the large number of people who bike is essential.

Share your favorite local green bike lanes around L.A. County with the hashtag #greenbikeLAnes, and join us for a lunchtime St. Patrick's Day ride this Friday around Downtown L.A.
