Programs

Bici Libre is a community bike workshop space (or bike co-op) that grew out of the RENEW Bike Wrangler program. We have a workshop space where, with the help of many volunteers, we teach you how to fix your own bike! We also have some used bikes available for a reasonable donation.

Since 2009, City of Lights has grown from initial conversations with Latino immigrant cyclists and the distribution of lights at a single day laborer center to become a diverse, volunteer-driven collective that has started the BiciDigna bike repair co-op and conducted many Spanish bike safety and legal rights workshops. We have created a model for nationwide groups seeking to engage cyclists of color.

Why Bike Valet?

LACBC Bike Valet is a way to provide your attendees with easy, convenient, and secure bike parking. Beyond that, it is a way to make your event more dynamic and attract a larger audience!

The Bike Wrangler program was created in summer 2010 and is supported by a grant from the L.A. County Department of Health. The Bike Wrangler program is an initiative created by the County Cycling Collaborative (CCC) which includes LACBC, the Bicycle Kitchen, the Bikerowave, the Bike Oven, the Valley Bikery and C.I.C.L.E. The Bike Wrangler works to recover abandoned bicycles and redistribute them to underserved communities. The LACBC will work with C.I.C.L.E. to distribute recovered bicycles at its community riding workshops which will be funded under the same grant.

CicLAvia was incubated through the Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition and inspired by the famous street closures in Bogotá, Colombia. Various LACBC volunteers and other professionals came together for the purpose of promoting and planning livable, car-free streets. It is now an independent collective that is working in partnership with LACBC, other environmental organizations, Mayor Villaraigosa, LADOT and LAPD to create the CicLAvia happen in Los Angeles.
