MORPHING FROM STEALTH CYCLIST INTO COOL, CALM WORKER BEE
Once you're there, you don't want everyone to feel like they've been along for your ride. Here's how to refresh yourself to face the rest of your day.
CHANGE OF CLOTHES
Bring a change of clothes if you ride a long distance to work. Roll clothes instead of folding them, and pack loosely for the least wrinkling. If you have space available, you might want to leave a couple of outfits and pairs of shoes at work. Here's a suggested system: take your outfits to work on Monday, then take them home for washing on Friday; repeat.
CLEANING UP
Allow yourself 10-15 minutes after arriving at work or whatever is your final destination to cool down and clean up. Keep toiletries (deodorant, comb, etc.) at work, or carry them with you. If you need to freshen up before changing into clean clothes, camping towels work great - use a small one as a washcloth, and a large one to dry off. They usually have a loop for hanging, and they'll be dry by the time you're ready to ride home. If you're really sweaty, you might want to take a shower. If showers aren't available at your workplace, inquire about shower-only privileges at a nearby health club. To cut down on sweat, leave earlier and ride more slowly, or find a route with fewer hills. For short trips, carry along moist towelettes for a quick freshen up.
