關於本活動

Do you live or work in the City of Commerce and want to learn how to bike more safely and confidently in the community? Has it been a while since you’ve been on a bike? Metro, LA County Bicycle Coalition, and People for Mobility Justice, in partnership with the City of Commerce and Climate Resolve, are hosting the Commerce Moving Forward: Bike Safety Basics online video class to help you improve your basic bike handling skills. You’ll learn how to start and stop with confidence, scan, and signal. We’ll show you how to adjust your bike and helmet before a ride, and teach you how to perform a simple inspection to ensure your bike is road-ready.

Participants who complete a class feedback survey will also be mailed a FREE pre-loaded TAP card and additional Metro-branded goodies (shipping limited to addresses in LA County).

Attendees are encouraged to participate from the comfort and safety of your own homes while we are all doing our part to practice social distancing while staying connected to one another. Once you are registered, we will be sending you information on how to join the class online.

Class size is limited. Pre-registration is required to guarantee a minimum number of participants. Register now to guarantee your spot! Once you are registered, we will send you a confirmation email and more info on how to join the class online.

Virtual Classes (English)

  • Commerce Moving Forward: Community Ride - April 2

Thanks to a Sustainable Transportation Equity Project (STEP) statewide grant, which is supported by the California Climate Investments program, the City of Commerce is launching the Commerce Moving Forward project. Commerce Moving Forward will introduce the first set of Class II bike lanes in the city, along with 400 shade trees, two zero-emission fixed route buses, and two zero-emission dial-a-ride shuttles. The Commerce Moving Forward project will also help prepare the community for Metro’s future Citadel rail station through development of a Transit-Oriented Development and Displacement Avoidance Plan. As part of this engagement effort, we are excited to collaborate with community partners to offer fun and engaging bike safety education opportunities to Commerce residents and workers to ensure that all community members have access to dignified, frequent, affordable transportation that serves all of their basic needs.

Who Should Sign-Up:

If you know how to ride a bike, but you aren’t comfortable using a bicycle for everyday travel or recreation, then this class may be for you. To build rider confidence, this class covers the basics of bike handling and shows participants how to improve their bike control skills.
