This Saturday, a group of twenty five cyclists and concerned environmentalists joined World Tour Pro Phil Gaimon (Team Cannondale – 2016) to clean up one of Los Angeles’ most revered streets, Mulholland Drive.
With the help of Los Angeles City Councilmember David Ryu’s Office and the Los Angeles Board of Public Works, the crew was well equipped to pick up garbage of all shapes and sizes.
Off the bat, the group was ready to go and wanted to make a great impact on cleaning up Mulholland!
The crew assembled with all smiles excited to start the cleanup!
From the Charles & Lotte Melhorn Outlook in Sherman Oaks, the group split into teams of two heading west towards Beverly Glen and east to Dixie Canyon.
The winds proved to be a hardy obstacle, but nothing our active team couldn’t handle.
The LA Conservation Corps joined LACBC’s Education & Volunteer Coordinator Zachary Rynew (orange jacket), David Ryu’s Field Deputy Alice Roth (second from right), and Phil Gaimon (orange helmet).
You might have had a hard time finding Phil Gaimon during the cleanup. He went deep into the brush to attack whatever trash he could find.

Of course, people cycled up to Mulholland Drive.
Our volunteers weren’t afraid to searching for whatever they could find, including signage, crates, and blown out tires.
Phil and Paige ran neck-and-neck for most trash collected.
Afterwards, people were able to ride Mulholland to see the big improvement they made.
The day ended with brunch along with Phil’s favorite food: cookies! Thanks to LACBC Business Partner Sweetsalt Food Shop.
All in all, the cleanup was a large success. Everyone was extremely eager to get to it and we’ll be looking to do more in 2016. Thanks again to Phil Gaimon, Alice Roth with Councilmember David Ryu’s Office, and the Los Angeles Board of Public Works to make this possible.
