Community Comes Together for Councilmember Blumenfield Bike Ride

This past Saturday, LACBC was proud to play a part in L.A. City Councilmember Bob Blumenfield’s 3rd Annual West Valley Community Bike Ride. Despite the threat of rain, over one hundred bicyclists showed to take part in a ten-mile tour of Reseda and Winnetka.

LACBC was well represented with Executive Director Tamika Butler leading the way, along with our ride marshals assisting cyclists of all ages.

Cyclists assembled behind the Magnolia Science Academy to listen to ride instructions.

L.A. City Councilmember Bob Blumenfield greeted the crowd before cyclists saddled up!

Tish and Greg Laemmle—community leaders and LACBC supporters—were all smiles and ready to roll.

LACBC received a lot of activity at our outreach table.

Councilmember Blumenfield got to preview on one of the bikes from Metro’s bike share program, set to debut in Downtown L.A. later this year.

A lot of kids were happy to have the chance to roll around the neighborhood.

Carter Rubin and Naomi Iwasaki from the City of L.A. Mayor’s Great Streets Program ride alongside Tamika Butler on the Orange Line Bike Path.

The ride made its way down to the furthest point west of the LA River Bike Path.

Councilmember Blumenfield led the ride and took the time to speak with many of the locals along the way.

This rider found his experience to not be too “ruff.”

At the end, Tamika accepted recognition for LACBC’s participation and ride marshaling from Councilmember Blumenfield.

Thanks to everyone who came out, especially the LACBC Ride Marshal Team that helped guide the ride along. We also want to thank the LAPD for all their help in shuttling cyclists around and keeping the ride as smooth as possible. We look forward to next year’s event and expect the continued growth of this great valley ride.
