CicLAvia came to the Southeast Cities for the first time and yesterday’s event was an overwhelming success. Spanning ten miles, this edition passed through the communities of Huntington Park, Walnut Park, South Gate, Florence-Firestone, Lynwood, and Watts.
Of course, LACBC was proud to be part of this great event and we made a photo diary of the day’s event:
LACBC’s Bryan Moller and Tamika Butler were happy to be on hand for the opening ceremonies at the Huntington Park Hub.
LACBC is very grateful to LA County Supervisor Hilda Solis for presenting LACBC with this check to continue our work on the Southeast Cities Active Transportation Plan.
Festivities started off quickly at the Huntington Park Hub.
Our great volunteers were on-hand making many new connections in the cycling community.
The cycling action was off quickly too in Huntington Park.
Bryan Moller shared all the great work he’s been doing in the Southeast Cities.
There were many uplifting performances at Leon H Washington Park.
No need to come in your Sunday best, but it’s always welcome.
The Watts Hub was filled with food, games, and people!
Always expect to see custom bikes at CicLAvia.
The Watts Towers was a popular detour off the route.
LACBC got a visit from some of our favorite friends, Aubrey and Melba Provost.
Carnation Park in Lynwood is large enough that there’s plenty of space to rock out.
We can’t bear to see another CicLAvia go, but we’ll see you along Wilshire on August 14th!
