This week we celebrated reaching and since surpassing 50% of our goal in donations thanks to almost 300 donors! We are beyond grateful to all those who have taken the time to donate and re-share resources with others. You have helped so much in getting us to where we are now and we should all be proud of the progress made! 👏👏👏

While we're happy to see those numbers growing, we never want to stray from the "why" behind this campaign. Karen Draper, a member of the Sunset4all team, was kind enough to share her passion for this project and why we must stay vigilant in this fight for safer streets!

"I got involved with this project when I started biking to work and realized how hostile LA's streets are to cyclists. I love everything else about riding my bike in this city--the weather, never having to hunt for parking, never getting stuck in traffic, getting exercise and feeling the wind in my hair--but I'm constantly threatened and endangered by our poor road design and the way I'm forced to share space with drivers. I have near misses constantly and worry that one day my luck will run out and I'll get hit--and it shouldn't be that way. We need to demand better from our city. Sunset4all is just one project, but I believe it can be a game changer. There's a huge untapped appetite for cycling here, but people are scared of riding in a door zone next to cars driving 45 mph. We need to start thinking of Sunset as our neighborhood street, not a freeway."
We invite everyone to share their why in support of Sunset4all on social media. This isn't just a benefit for those in the neighborhood, but for all of us, as we have the opportunity to create a model for a network of protected bike lanes everywhere! Tag @lacbc and @sunset4all as well as the hashtag #sunset4all so we can share your stories as a further indictment of current LA infrastructure.
